Go see Black Gold!

For a long time, I thought I had already posted on the movie Black Gold. I've certainly talked about it enough with friends. I also put an article on it by Green LA Girl in one of my PDFs. But when it came to posting about it on this blog, I mistook it for my post on The Take [1], another movie I highly recommend.

So, if you haven't already been to see it, here's why you should. Black Gold is about the birthplace of coffee: Ethiopia. There, people continue to live in grinding poverty, even as coffee makes people in Europe and the US very rich. The way to balance this unfair situation, as anyone who has visited this blog before knows, is through fair trade. The movie hammers the point home with poignant editing, not lectures.

The impetus to post this came from Alicia at NewsReel [2] in California. Further information, reviews, a trailer, and ways to take action are all at the official movie site [3].
